Now blooming: Bigseed biscuitroot <I>(Lomatium macrocarpum)</I>, Deltoid balsamroot <I>(Balsamorhiza deltoidea)</I>, Howell's silverpuffs <I>(Microseris howellii)</I>, Waldo rockcress <I>(Arabis aculeolata)</I>, Checkerbell <I>(Fritillaria affinis)</I>, Spreading phlox <I>(Phlox diffusa)</I>, Siskyou mat <I>(Ceanothus pumilus)</I>, Shortlobe paintbrush <I>(Castilleja hispida ssp brevilobata)</I>, and Purple mouse ears <I>(Mimulus douglasii)</I>. <P> On the left side of the parking lot, just on the other side of the wooden fence, there appeared to be a variant of <I>Viola hallii</I> mixed in with common <I>V. hallii</I> plants. On the variant, the two upper petals were dark purple only on the back side and yellow on the front. Normally, the two upper petals of <I>V. hallii</I> are dark purple on both sides. and Mickey-mouse violet <I>(Viola hallii)</I>. <P>
