The fabulous Sweet Creek was running at full strength on this Tuesday morning - as usual, photo opps were numerous. But I really came down from Yachats to see if the early-blooming Oregon Fetid Adder's Tongues (Scoliopus hallii) were in flower, and there they were! These tiny but intricately-constructed blossoms are worth using the macro lens. Coming soon, probably early April, were the Pink Fawn lilies (Erythronium revolutum) with their beautiful mottled leaves. They were numerous and in bud atop 2" stems. Both of these can be seen along the trail not far above the second catwalk and elsewhere farther up the trail. The only other blooms in sight were a few intrepid milkmaids clinging to the canyon wall.
