Balsamroot is blooming at the lower viewpoint (1600` elevation). Not at peak yet.
Balsamroot is barely starting in the upper meadows. There should be more blooming after a few warm days, but I don`t expect peak for at least another two weeks.
Many other things are blooming, including: Western starflower (Lysimachia latifolia); vanilla leaf (Achlys triphylla); lots of Thompson`s waterleaf (Hydrophyllum capitatum var. thompsonii) and small-flowered blue-eyed Mary (Collinsia parviflora); White Western Groundsel (Senecio integerrimus var. ochroleucus); profuse woodland stars in the high elevation meadows and elsewhere; Hooker`s fairy bells (Prosartes hookeri); Dutchman`s breeches (Dicentra cucullaria) still going strong especially on `the back way`; Western Spring Beauty (Claytonia lanceolata) at and near the summit; star-flowered false Solomon`s seal (Maianthemum stellatum); and Striped Coralroot (Corallorhiza striata). See photos in the OW Facebook group.
