| Comments | We didnt quite go to McNeil Point but peeled off to the east just prior to the snow&rock traverse to do some exploring and photographs. Lots of flowers from Top Spur trailhead all the way up. We counted 80. Bald Mountain still has a lot of color mostly buckwheat, paintbrush, wolley sunflower, cinquefoil, lupine and naked eriogonum. Some beargrass and washingtonia lillies out in the middle big meadows along with lots of lupine, tiger lillies, paintbrush and wolley sunflower. Once you get up higher there is lots of avalanche liiles, shooting stars, marsh marigolds, buttercups and sitka valerian. High up along the creeks we founds lots of pink monkeyflower, pink and white heather, several paintbrush and several lupines. So starting at the trailhead with inside out flower and bunchberry, its a great show and lots of variety right now. The beargrass at the ponds are not yet open and should be a good show and of course lots of flowers will still follow the snow drifts that have yet to melt. |
