| Comments | There were a lot of great plants blooming at Rough & Ready Botanical Wayside this weekend, including lots of rare or endemic plants. Blooming right now are: Baslamorhiza deltoides, Thlaspi montanum, Arabis auculeolata, Mimulus douglasii, Frittilaria affinis, Orobanche uniflora, Erysimum asperum, Castilleja brevilbata, Amelanchier alnifolia, Viola hallii, Collinsia heterophylla, Horkelia daucifolia, Ceanothus pumilus, Ranunculus occidentalis, Cerastium arvense, Calochortus (either elegans or tolmiei - not sure which), and the coolest plant of the day - Microseris howelii. I've got photos of most of these on my Flickr page. From the look of things, the area is at pretty close to full bloom right now. If the weather doesn't get hot too quickly, bloom should be good for another few weeks yet. If you get a chance to visit, this would be a great time! |
