Description

Hardy Ridge is just west of Hamilton Mountain. Fewer people visit, and it is a great spot for spring wildflowers.

Directions

From Portland, take Interstate 84 East to Exit 43 (Cascade Locks). (If you are approaching from the east, take Exit 45 and proceed two miles through town.) Cross the Columbia River over the historic Bridge of the Gods ($2 toll for passenger cars). After crossing the bridge, turn left onto Highway 14 and proceed seven miles. You will see Beacon Rock towering ahead as you approach the state park, which is located near mile marker 35. After passing Beacon Rock, turn right onto Kueffler Road. Proceed approximately 0.5 mile up this road, watching for signs on the right for the Equestrian Trailhead. There is a pit toilet at this location. The trail starts at the gate on the north end of the parking area.
